New York's Shari'a appetizer
(Aassiya Hassan - beheaded by her husband for seeking a divorce. Picture courtesy TROP)Last week, two incidents that happened in New York had a common theme - Islamic Shari'a law. Shari'a is the law of Islam, based on the Kuran and the Hadith. Here are the two incidents.
The beheading of Aassiya Hassan by her husband - Pakistani muslim Muzzammil Hassan. Both of them co-founded the "moderate Islamic" Bridges TV that was supposed to "counter negative stereotypes of muslims in America." I guess Muzzammil forgot that this stereotype prominently includes the fact that practising muslims have a strange predilection towards beheading others, mostly Kafirs.
Now, as Abul Kasem (one of the contributors to the book "Why we left Islam", has pointed out in this interview, what Muzzammil did is exactly in accordance with Islam. Islam insists that God has created man superior to woman, and essentially owns her. A woman is his property, and a property has very few rights. In Islam a man may divorce his property by simply saying "I divorce you" thrice, but the woman cannot escape an abusive husband because Islam does not grant women the right to divorce.
The Kuran also says that women must be beaten if they misbehave. And that is where the second Shari'a appetizer comes in. Mohammed Fagirad - an Afghan diplomat - beat his wife for a full 15 hours, and said "she was a dog and I will treat her like a dog." Here is an excerpt from the report:
At one point, prosecutors said, Fagirad threw his wife up against a wall, held her there by the neck and then let her drop to the floor, where he beat her with a belt.
Fagirad told police his "wife was a dog and he was going to treat her like a dog," prosecutors said.
To understand both of these tragic events, we must understand one thing very very clearly. Islam is a male religion. Women are the possessions of men. When they are Kafir women, they become part of "War booty" that Jihadi muslims can acquire upon defeating Kafirs. War booty is nothing but the property of the defeated Kafirs, and Kafir women are like any other property, from Islam's point of view. When Islam defeats the Kuffar, this property becomes the property of muslim men. Just like any other inanimate property. Islam is very clear that captured women become sexual property of their new muslim owners. Once again, this is not my interpretation, but something all schools of Islamic law agree upon. Within Islam, the woman has one function alone - as a sexual organ. Indeed, Islam says all of woman is "Awra" which means "private part/genitalia/object of shame" in arabic. This is not my interpretation, but is explicitly stated in various Islamic law books, such as Hedaya (the lawbook of the Hanafi school of Sunni Islam).
I want to end this article with a request to my readers. Fight Islam. Fight Islam because it is the right thing to do. Islam reduces women to the status of property - inanimate sexual objects. It is not wrong to fight this ideology. On the contrary, it is very unethical to silently watch this ideology subjugate and degrade women. I also request all of you to see muslims as fellow human beings. They are the biggest victims of Islam. Please treat them with compassion. My own observation is that a vast majority of muslims are unaware of what is written in the Kuran and Hadith. Many would leave Islam if they only knew. Our job is to simply show them what is written, and let their conscience guide them.
